South Africa's Imbambala Wilderness Trails Camp is situated within the Loskop Nature Reserve's Wilderness area and is only a 2 hour drive from OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg.

This private and secluded camp is accessed via a scenic 30 minute boat ride through the reserve during which one can spot many of the large variety of game and birds home to this sanctuary.

Days are spent either game viewing on foot, game viewing on boat or in an open game-viewing vehicle. During the game walks the emphasis in on the intrinsic of the fauna and flora of the area, however close encounters with some of Africa's large mammals adds to the excitement of the day.

The wide variety of habitat allows for more than 300 different bird species to congregate in this area making it a discerning ornithologists' haven.

Abseiling and archaeological sites are also highlights of this African experience. For the enthusiast horse riding can be arranged if requested well in advance.

Enjoy memorable evenings around the campfire, whilst sipping a sundowner from the bar, discussing the various species observed under a crystal clear night skies.

Imbambala is nestled into bush on the banks of Loskop Dam accommodating 18 guests in twin safari-style tents on raised wooden decks. For larger groups a tent with double bunk beds (sleeping 12) is available.

A central wooden lounge, bar, dining area and sun deck is homely and allows for guests to mingle and chat with the rangers.

Lanterns, the moon and the fire, light the camp by night. There is also generator power for the lighting and the fridges.

Flush toilets and hot water bush-showers are shared.

A light breakfast is provided prior to the morning activity, which is then followed by a healthy brunch. Tea, coffee and light snacks are available throughout the day. The ambiance of an African night is enhanced by a tasty, satisfying dinner.

Memories abound whilst sharing moments around the fire under a starlit sky after the day's events.

Please note: There is no cell phone reception at the camp, however, in the event of an emergency, cell phone communication is available within a very short distance from the camp. We also have radio contact in the event of an emergency. Cell phones will not be allowed on walks.

Check-in times are by prior arrangement. Due to the boat transfer across the dam, guests may not check in later than 17h00 for safety reasons.

Check-out is at 13h00, which is when we will leave the camp to cross the dam. Alternative times will be considered by prior arrangement only.

We offer light cereal breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Tea and coffee are available all day at no extra cost.

All guests will be met at the Nature reserve offices where you will park and leave your vehicles. Transfers to and from Johannesburg International Airport can also be arranged. Guests will then be transported by 4x4 through the nature reserve to the boat, from where we will travel for approximately 30 minutes across the dam to the camp.

.: Wildlife :.

Two game walks are offered per day. The guests, on the advise of the guide, will determine the length and duration of the game walk.

It may be necessary to drive by vehicle or boat to other areas of the nature reserve, from which we will then walk. Game viewing by boat or open 4wd vehicles is also offered.

Walking groups are limited to 8 guests, which will ensure personal safety and attention and enables everyone to participate. Emphasis is placed on knowledge and each walk will bring about some new information, be it about animals, birds or trees. Our passion for the bush and ability to depart this knowledge makes for an interesting and fun walk.

A qualified FGASA (Field Guide Association of Southern Africa) guide will accompany guests on all walks.

BASED ON A MINIMUM OF FOUR GUESTS

Rates include all activities and transfers within the Reserve.

The rates include all activities such as boat transfers to and from the camp, game viewing by boat or 4x4 drives and game walks. A light breakfast and brunch with a full evening meal are provided for the fully catered guests.

For the self-catered clients all of the above activities and use of the camp fridges, stove and barbeque are included. Guests are however required to provide their own charcoal or wood for the barbeque as burning of wood from the reserve is not allowed for ecological reasons.

Coffee and tea are available all day at no extra cost. Cold drinks as well as a range of alcoholic beverages are available from a cash bar.
